The Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington’s mission is collaborating to ensure Southington’s children are healthy and prepared to learn through advocacy, programs, resources, and support. But we can’t do it alone. We are looking for adults who live or work in Southington to serve on our Board of Directors. We are especially looking for members with previous board experience who are in the medical field, legal field, sales or marketing field, or have good connections in town. The ECCS Board meets 9 times a year on the third Tuesday of the month at the ECCS office downtown. The focus is on overall strategy and governance of the organization.

Member of Community Table
Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington
As part of the CT Office of Early Childhood’s vision for CT’s early childhood system and their Early Start CT initiative, the ECCS became a Local Governance Partner (LGP). We are looking for adults who live or work in Southington to serve as members of our "Community Table." This is defined as a collaborative space that serves as a neutral, inclusive forum where diverse organizations, parents, and stakeholders come together to engage in open dialogue, share insights, and work towards collective community goals. The Community Table is required to meet 6 times a year. The timing varies, and we are meeting at the ECCS office downtown. In spring of 2026 we will be doing a local needs assessment.

We have open positions on our Board of Directors. We have 11 meetings a year, a once a month commitment. Being part of the Board includes being committed and dedicated to our mission and to help carry out our mission. A Board member attends monthly Board meetings, volunteers and helps with CT BHI events, is part of at least one committee, helps oversee the organizations financial resources, actively represents and be an advocate for CT BHI in the community etc... Senior Transportation Services
Senior Transportation Services (STS) is seeking compassionate Volunteer Drivers to help adults age 50+ remain independent and connected in our community. Volunteer Drivers use their own vehicles to provide safe, reliable transportation to medical appointments, pharmacies, and care facilities in Berlin, Meriden, New Britain, Plainville, Southington, and Wallingford. This role is flexible and impactful—drivers choose rides based on their availability using our easy-to-use scheduling software. Even a small commitment of just two rides per month makes a big difference for older adults who rely on these services to age safely in their own homes. Responsibilities include: Transporting clients to essential appointments Providing friendly, respectful assistance Logging mileage and time in STS software Following STS safety guidelines STS provides: Mileage reimbursement Supplemental auto insurance coverage Flexible scheduling Magnetic vehicle signage Ongoing staff support Time Commitment: Minimum of 2 rides per month Contact: Email: sts@seniorrides.org

Our main board meets once per month for about an hour via Zoom to provide oversight and direction to the executive staff of Coram Deo. However, each board member will invest another hour or more each month as part of a sub committee around Finance, Fundraising, Governance, Outreach and more. Help immigrants learn English! No prior teaching experience or knowledge of a foreign language is required. We will train you! When? 2 hours per week at a time convenient for you Where? public locations (primarily libraries) or at our office in New Britain What do we do? help adults learn English, become citizens, advance their careers/education and support their families We have a variety of volunteer opportunities including individual tutoring (working with a small group of 1-4 students), language groups (team teaching a class of up to 10 students), or leading a focus group (a class focused on a specific subject such as digital literacy or civics). Our board plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission to support and empower youth and families in New Britain through education, mentoring, and out-of-school-time programming. We are especially interested in individuals with experience in: finance or accounting, fundraising and development, marketing, communications, or public relations, education, youth development, or social services, and legal or nonprofit governance. Board members serve as ambassadors for Pathways/Senderos, provide strategic leadership, and help ensure the long-term sustainability of our programs that serve middle school and high school youth. Display Case Volunteer
Berlin-Peck Memorial Library
The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is looking for a creative volunteer to help design and change out their lobby display case each month. Themes are predetermined (ex: poetry, holiday/season, best books, etc.) and supplies are provided. The volunteer will take down the previous month's display and work in coordination with library staff to create and design a new display. Experience in bulletin board design and knowledge of Canva preferred but not required. Time commitment would be approximately 2-5 hours per month. We have openings on our Grant Committee. As a Grant committee member you would help solicit request for proposals (RFPs) from around the state for breast cancer research projects, read proposals, make recommendations to the Board based on our criteria and budget, helps plans our grants awards event (SMARTY PARTY). Our committee consists of educators, survivors, physicians, nurses, other volunteers etc..
