Kids Clean-Up!
Southington Land Conservation Trust
Come join the Southington Land Conservation Trust and KinderWild Nature-Based Play & Learning to learn about how kids can help the Earth and join us as we clean up the pond and surrounding area at Panthorn Park. Bring gloves, a bucket or repurposed bag, and grabbers if you have them. We'll have a limited supply to lend out as well.We'll meet in the clearing just over the bridge by the pond. Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington
The Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington’s mission is collaborating to ensure Southington’s children are healthy and prepared to learn through advocacy, programs, resources, and support. But we can’t do it alone. We are looking for adults who live or work in Southington to serve on our Board of Directors. We are especially looking for members with previous board experience who are in the medical field, legal field, sales or marketing field, or have good connections in town. The ECCS Board meets 9 times a year on the third Tuesday of the month at the ECCS office downtown. The focus is on overall strategy and governance of the organization.

Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington
As part of the CT Office of Early Childhood’s vision for CT’s early childhood system and their Early Start CT initiative, the ECCS became a Local Governance Partner (LGP). We are looking for adults who live or work in Southington to serve as members of our "Community Table." This is defined as a collaborative space that serves as a neutral, inclusive forum where diverse organizations, parents, and stakeholders come together to engage in open dialogue, share insights, and work towards collective community goals. The Community Table is required to meet 6 times a year. The timing varies, and we are meeting at the ECCS office downtown. In spring of 2026 we will be doing a local needs assessment.

Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut
Help immigrants learn English! No prior teaching experience or knowledge of a foreign language is required. We will train you! When? 2 hours per week at a time convenient for you Where? public locations (primarily libraries) or at our office in New Britain What do we do? help adults learn English, become citizens, advance their careers/education and support their families We have a variety of volunteer opportunities including individual tutoring (working with a small group of 1-4 students), language groups (team teaching a class of up to 10 students), or leading a focus group (a class focused on a specific subject such as digital literacy or civics). Siena Learning Center is an educational ministry established and supported by the Dominican Sisters of Peace. We seek to provide a holistic approach to literacy for adult learners, with special emphasis on English as a second language. Our program is built on the belief that literacy opens doors to employment opportunities, educational advancement, stronger families, and deeper participation in community life. Many of our learners come to the Center with great determination and hope, eager to strengthen their communication skills and build a better future for themselves and their families.

OIC New Britain, Inc

OIC New Britain (OICNB) is the oldest employment and training program in the city and has served over 55,000 people in the greater New Britain area. OICNB for the past 41 years has served youth ages 11 to 24 years old preparing them for the world of work, post-secondary education, the trades and life. Our focus has been on the 12 Career Competencies which are the soft skills need to be successful at school, work and life. These Career Competencies include Digital Literacy, Interpersonal, Communication, Critical Thinking & Problem Solving, Professionalism, Time Management, Adaptability, Customer Service, Job Search, Diversity & Inclusion, Financial Literacy and Academics. OICNB is preparing the future workforce to become great employees, entrepreneurs and citizens with respect for everyone. OICNB operate after school programs for middle and high school youth. OICNB also works with youth ages 18 to 24 years old placing them into careers that will be in demand for Connecticut. OICNB for the past four years has embedded STEM initiatives and programming into our programs. OICNB operates summer youth employment and learning programs in the summer beginning July 1st to August 7th. OICNB is always looking for individuals who want to share their careers, have any special skills and love helping to shape and mode the lives of youth and young adults.

Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut

Literacy Volunteers of Central CT (LVCC) is a nonprofit that provides tutoring for adults. The majority of our students are immigrants who are learning English, but we also provide basic literacy classes for English speakers, help students prepare for the US citizenship test, and teach digital literacy classes. LVCC provides services in 17 central CT towns, but the need is highest in New Britain. All classes are taught by volunteer tutors who are asked to commit to two hours of tutoring per week.
