Nursing Unit Support Volunteer

We have open positions on our Board of Directors. We have 11 meetings a year, a once a month commitment. Being part of the Board includes being committed and dedicated to our mission and to help carry out our mission. A Board member attends monthly Board meetings, volunteers and helps with CT BHI events, is part of at least one committee, helps oversee the organizations financial resources, actively represents and be an advocate for CT BHI in the community etc... Fortunately there are 4 million women living with breast cancer today!              Unfortunately there are 4 million women living with breast cancer today! The CT Breast Health Initiative is a statewide non profit committed to raising funds for Connecticut breast cancer research.  We know research is the answer to cancer! 100% of the monies raised in Connecticut stays in Connecticut. The organization relies on many volunteers to make a difference locally in the fight against breast cancer. These are our opportunities: 1. BOARD OF DIRECTORS - rewarding positions giving direction to our mission.  11 meetings, once a month commitment. 2.  GRANTS Committee - Solicits RFPs from around the state for breast cancer research projects, reads proposals, makes recommendations to the Board based on our criteria and budget, plans grant awards event. (SMARTY PARTY) Committee consists of educators, survivors, physicians, nurses, other volunteers, etc. 4. CT RACE IN THE PARK: the largest and most visible fundraiser. Volunteers needed for Sponsors, Volunteer Management, Kids events, Merchandise sales, Auction/Raffle, Survivor Breakfast, PR, etc. 5. PAR TEA:  volunteers need for planning and implementing a 9 hole all female golf tournament fundraiser followed by Afternoon Tea with a known speaker.  6. EVENTS:  solicit outside organizations to fundraise for CT BHI and to liaison with  and promote those who reach out to us to fundraise across the state.
